Don't understand the criticism at allOct 05, 2009
By Misha Bendavid Why would the previous reviewer complain that this is available ? If you have these great records, you don't need this set, but if you don't, what a bargain ! A ripoff is when you get less than you are paying for, or you are getting some fraudulent replication of the real thing. This is no ripoff. It's fabulously priced. It's sterling, heart felt blues driven rock that soars waayyyy over anything being played now, nineteen years after Stevie left us. I knew Stevie and it's hard to not cry every time I think of him, his gentle spirit, his unquenchable fire for the blues and the way he triumphed over addiction. Nothing to complain about here. Zip.
We all want more, more, more of Stevie, Reese, Chris and Tommy; I'm no exception. But what's available is so good, that there just is no reason to piss and moan that it's been repackaged for the 23rd time or whatever.
Buy. Listen. Love. It doesn't get any better, and like Hendrix and Morrison before him, it never will.

Another needless reissueOct 01, 2009
By dc777 [...] Before you get all excited know that this is noting more than a reissue of "Texas Flood", "Couldn't Stand The Weather", and "Soul to Soul" with extra tracks - the same extra tracks that were already released on the remastered CD's back in 1999 and on The Collection.
Certainly this is a stellar set of SRV material worth 4 1/2 - 5 Starts, however all I can say is WHY? What does the fan gain from this release? Well, I suppose if you're a "completion-est" then this is great news, something new to add to your collection. However, I am offended. This is nothing more than marketing by the record company to repackage and reissue the same material yet again.
I've spoken to a number of fans of SRV through the years and what we crave more than anything is for a person like Kevin Shirley to assist Jimmie Vaughan and bring to life some of the highly circulated live recording on bootleg and release that as a box set. More over, a DVD with new stuff would also be great!
I'll continue to dream.....and buy bootlegs or download them........
